BROKEN TECHNO!! This was the first thought that popped into my head when I heard Piotr’s demo. Broken in the very best way. <3

“Broken techno” was a term affectionately used by some of our German friends to describe the dark and hard techno and schranz sounds we were hearing years ago when we lived in Germany.

Until then, I had understood the idea of the so-called “broken techno”, but had never heard anything that really felt like what my heart envisioned as truly “broken techno”. But with those first few moments of distorted kicks and clicks of Piotr’s album I just knew, and you will too.

From the spontaneity of Phateus to the swagger of Palma, the beauty of Kinross to the aggression of The Trump, Piotr Cisak’s techno brings to the table not only heavy, distorted rhythms but also intricate field recordings and melodies layered and interspersed throughout, and the effect is quite lovely. We hope you love Piotr Cisak’s Matrix as much as we do.
